RTC Summer Research Program for Undergraduates
@ The Lunenfeld


Program Description: This program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to work throughout the summer in a laboratory at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute. Students will work on a project assigned to them by their laboratory supervisor gaining valuable experience and research skills.

 

Eligibility: Students must have completed, at the minimum, their second undergraduate year of a recognized university science program.

 
Application Procedure: Prospective students must apply ONLINE and submit the following:
  • A resume or curriculum vitae, including permanent and sessional addresses;
  • One cover letter that includes the area(s) of research you are interested in and three (3) investigators whose lab you would like to work in - List of Investigators Hiring Summer Students
  • Unofficial transcripts (ROSI printouts are sufficient);
  • The names and contact information of two (2) references (academic preferred)
  • Complete applications must be submitted online by February 15, 2013.
 
Selection Process: The summer student program is extremely competitive. Individual scientists select their own summer students; there is no centralized selection process. Please be aware that acceptances are made on a rolling basis.

Conditions of Summer Program: Students will be expected to complete a three (3) month period at the Lunenfeld and work full-time hours (37.5 hours per week). Students will work on a project assigned to them by their laboratory supervisor. In addition, students will be required to summarize their work in the form of a poster presentation at an event near the end of the summer.
 
 
Stipend: Students will be paid $5,000.00 for a three (3) month period (based on an hourly rate of $10.68 per hour plus 4% vacation pay for a 37.5 hour work week).
 
 
Deadline: Complete online applications must be received NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 15, 2013
