Enrica Bertin, visiting fellow - (enrica.bertin<at>gmail.com)

enricaI’m an Italian PhD student given a great opportunity  to spend nine months in the Nagy Lab to investigate the origin of the amniotic fluid stem cells. I joined my PhD program at the Padua University, at the De Coppi’s Regenerative Lab.
Amniotic fluid stem cells are obtained after the selection of the cKit marker, and they share some characteristics with embryonic and adult stem cells, enrolling them as a new stem population. The emrbyonic origin of these cells is still unknown, so with the study of particular trasgenic mice I could have the possibiliy to track the origin of these cells.
