I was a PhD student but now I am a postdoc in the Nagy
lab. The aim of my project is to decipher the role(s) of nestin
in mouse development. Nestin is an intermediate filament protein
expressed in many different progenitors including those of the
central nervous system, heart, skeletal muscle and kidney. In the
adults, expression of nestin is mainly restricted to the subependymal
zone and dentate gyrus of the brain, the neuromuscular junction
and renal podocytes. Our current knowledge regarding the function(s)
of nestin is limited to the data obtained from in vitro studies.
I am using a loss of function approach and creating nestin knockout
mouse lines to be able to examine the function(s) of nestin in
vivo.
