In 2013, after I got my master degree from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, I joined the Nagy lab as a PhD student in University of Toronto. With great interests in stem cell research and animal model study, I started my new project about “real” Avatar, which is to establish a mouse model with personalized immune system. Thymus is the exclusive organ for T cell development. T cells will go through several stringent selections by thymic epithelia cells (TECs), an important component of thymus. Generation of TECs from iPSCs (induced pluripotent stem cells) will be the key to achieving personalization. It’s a great challenge for me and I also enjoy this expedition.
