I have been Manager of the Embryonic Stem Cell Facility at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute for 25 years, first under Dr. Janet Rossant, and since 2005 under the directorship of Dr Andras Nagy. I provide technical service and support for the generation and maintenance of ES cell lines to the entire research institute. I recently moved into a state-of-the-art tissue culture facility on the 4th floor of the TCP building. Here I provide all cells, reagents and supplies for ES or IPS-cell based transgenesis and gene targeting. This includes serum, LIF, additives and MEFs – all tested free of pathogens and compatible will the highest standards of “germline competence”. In addition to high-end tissue culture equipment, my lab features such items as fluorescent microscopes with digital imaging, horizontal flow hoods for colony “picking” and a digital cell counter.
