Zahra Izadifar, Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Zahra Izadifar, PhD is a Postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Nagy’s lab, at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, Sinai Health, in Toronto, Ontario. She obtained a BSc degree in Physics and MSc and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Izadifar has a broad and multidisciplinary education and research background.
Special research areas of experience span over a broad spectrum of expertise including: (i) development of innovative extraction techniques for extraction of pharmaceutical compounds from plants using ultrasound and radiofrequency; (ii) establishing a new evaluation technique using Synchrotron based x-ray imaging for advanced detection of ultrasound induced cavitation bubbles for safer and more effective clinical ultrasound imaging and therapy; and (iii) investigating the effect of focused ultrasound neuromodulation in brain for treating mental disorders, and (iv) application of novel engineered stem cells for long-term treatment of Type 1 diabetes mellitus.
