Hematopoietic protein kinase is a 97 kDa serine/threonine kinase cloned and extensively characterized by Friedemann Kiefer in Norman Iscove's lab at the Ontario Cancer Institute.

The role of HPK in regulating the SAPK signalling pathway is detailed in two EMBO J papers:
